L (ove) Y (ou) O (fficially) N (ow) – LYON
A trip to France was the idea for a long weekend ahead. It was supposed to start on May 1st. Strasbourg and Arles were on my list until I was told that going anywhere in France on May 1st was not the best idea I ever had. France and its eternal strikes would not miss a day like May 1st – international workers’ day – and swamp the streets with manifestations.
So we limited our ambitions, left the 1st of May to the engaged people walking the streets and Sunday to the rain, and totally and fully enjoyed a Saturday in a very welcoming Lyon, the third most populated French city!
My second trip to this city which has corrected its reputation on my first trip to Lyon and is attracting a lot of interest since the TV show “Disparue” is assembling millions of French-speaking viewers on Wednesday evening for the last two weeks.
So if you know Paris by heart or feel like a smaller Paris but with friendlier people (sometimes you have to face the facts), go for the colorful Lyon.
